San Gimignano in Tuscany


San Gimignano is a small village in the Province of Siena known for being one of the sites of Tuscany which was declared World Heritage by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). It is indeed a peculiar and very characteristic town, considered one of the best preserved examples of two-fourteenth-century urban architecture existing Italy.
Currently its historical and cultural importance is due to the perfect preservation of its original structure dating back to the age of the city states, a characteristic that contributed to put it on the list of World Heritage to protect and preserve for future generations.

Among the monuments and places to visit in San Gimignano, there are the central Piazza del Duomo, the Church of St. Augustine with Gozzoli's frescoes, the Palazzo del Podesta with a fresco by Sodoma, but also the Piazza della Cisterna, the Etruscan Museum and the City Art Gallery.
In addition to these monuments, the town of San Gimignano is famous above all for its towers, dating back to mediaeval period. Currently, the towers still visible are 15, but in the past in the past had to be about 72.
San Gimignano is one the favorite Tuscany destinations. The palce is also appreciated by camper lovers that have at disposal several services for luxury RV rentals.
